Preserving what’s built, while focusing on what’s next.
As of today, Sound is officially entering maintenance mode.
As announced last week on X, we’ll be disabling new uploads and artist onboarding. But all existing drops will remain live, and artists can still withdraw their earnings at any time.
This decision wasn’t made lightly—but it’s the clearest way to preserve what’s working without slowing down the future we’re building.
Fans can still listen, browse, and collect
Artists can still withdraw funds
No new uploads or artist applications
This update ensures that the value artists have already created remains intact, while minimizing support burden and new tech debt.
Because Vault has been our focus for months.
We’re all-in on building the future of artist–fan connections, and that means tightening our focus.
Sound was the foundation. We’re proud of what we built, and grateful to every artist who believed.

Now we’re putting 100% behind it.
Focus is life or death at a startup.
You survive by dedicating everything to one thing. This shift hasn’t been easy. Sound changed our lives. It shaped who we are and gave us everything, personally and professionally. There aren’t enough words to express how grateful we are to the community.
But if we want a real shot at building something that hits escape velocity and onboards the masses, this is a risk worth taking
Vault exists to solve a core problem every artist faces:
“I dropped a song. I have no idea who listened—and I can’t reach them again.”
Vault is the easiest way for artists to build and reach their fanbase.
Upload a song, video, or image
Fans unlock it with email or phone
See who listened and how often (play counts stay private)
Reach them directly via text or email
Text and email are free while we’re in beta. We’re also building a new way to collect music—shaped by everything we learned from Sound.
This isn’t goodbye.
The music stays live. Earnings stay withdrawable. And fans stay connected.
To everyone who’s been part of the journey so far: thank you.
If you’re an artist looking for what comes next, Vault.fm is where we’re headed.
We hope you’ll join us.
